(ANSAmed) - DUBAI, JANUARY 3 - Expo 2020 Dubai will host the Middle East's first vegan food festival this month, showcasing flavors from around the world with a groundbreaking culinary experience.
The event is in association with the non-profit organization Veganuary, which encourages people around the world to become vegan during the month of January and beyond, and Dubai Vegan Days (DXBvegandays), with events designed to bring together the vegan community in the UAE.
A statement said the Vegan Food Festival will take place at the Festival Garden of Expo 2020 over three weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from 14 to 30 January.
It will bring together the best plant-based food the region has to offer, giving visitors the opportunity to taste vegan specialties entertained by the music of different DJs.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy an eco-market with sustainable kiosks, a vegan and organic spa, entertainment and meetings with chefs, which will make the Expo 2020 Vegan Food Festival an educational occasion for friends and families.
International brands participating in the festival include Chuck Chick's vegan burgers; the dishes of Erpingham House, a plant-based restaurant in the United Kingdom that makes its debut in Dubai at Expo 2020; the vegan pizzas of Vegan Dough Co.; the smoothies and toasted sandwiches of Evergreen Organics, the first completely vegan cafe in Qatar; and the specialties from world-famous chef Matthew Kenney's restaurant Veg'd.
The largest vegan pop-up market in the region, 'Not Just For Vegans', will take place January 29th and 30th, with over 60 local ethical brands selling everything from fashion to jewelry and accessories, luxury handcrafted items and products for daily use.
Restaurants throughout Expo 2020 will also participate in activities dedicated to vegan cuisine during the month of January.
The Alkebulan, which hosts African cuisine at Expo Dubai, will offer a 10-day pop-up restaurant by chef Glory Kabe.
The restaurant Bread Ahead will host vegan cooking classes in January, along with plant-based offerings from the kitchens of Adrift Burger Bar, Kutir, Long Chim, Café Milano, The Local Aussie Grill, Mangrove Philippines Cuisine, Melbourne Lane, Sky Market and XYST.(ANSAmed).
